![]() Element James Sinclair knows how to please the A-list. The former manager of Spider Club has gone on to create his own casual, surprisingly fun everyone-who's-anyone spot. The recipe for the club's success: Less is more. The no-frills dance area, front bar and back patio are pleasant and roomy, and initially seem to look exactly as they did in the space's previous incarnation, Blue. (No showy meta-Asian makeover, no crazy St. Tropez costumes and no decor choking on faux-Moroccan "decadence.") Sinclair, however, has added private dance floors for those who reserve bottle service, a stage, a new sound system and raised viewing platforms so that the shorter peeps in the audience can see the stage. The vibe could change considerably if the place ever really opens—private parties have almost exclusively filled the spot except for Tuesdays and Saturdays, which remain invite-only—but so far the crowd remains refreshingly laid-back. Yes, Hollywood gossip-fodder soirees are often held here. Yes, the list of regulars includes Leo, Tobey, Avril and the sisters Duff. And yes, even the non-boldfacers are eyebrow-raisingly attractive. Once you make it in, however, the cool, casual crowd is more likely to offer a genuine smile and friendly chatter than the glazed, I'm-too-cool-for-this stare perfected at the other Hollywood clubs. 1642 N Las Palmas CA 90028 United States Map Other Categories: Night Life » Electronica Clubs |
