Posted 7/16/07 - The world of TV needs more Snoop Dogg and we'll get it with a new reality TV series announced for the legendary rapper. It was reported today that Snoop Dogg will be filmed both at home and at work for an unnamed series for E! Entertainment Television that will be broadcast later this year. The Snoop Dogg reality show will air on E! later this year.

The Comcast Entertainment Group, who operate the E! Channel, were quoted by Monsters and Critics as saying, "It will be hilarious and heart-warming. The juggling act that Snoop faces day-in, day-out between career and family is certain to resonate with our viewers. Snoop is, without a doubt, one of the most charismatic and intriguing personalities in pop culture today. While he has captured a legion of fans as the king of hip-hop, what makes Snoop most interesting is the side of him that most people have never seen."

Snoop Dogg will be filmed at his home in Los Angeles with his three children and will also be filmed working in the community with the youth American football league that he founded. Snoop Dogg playing football with kids? Sounds like a reality TV home run. The show fill also follow Snoop Dogg as he carries out an 800-hour community service sentence that he was given related to drug charges and gun charges in April. Half of those hours will be filled by the football league. Snoop Dogg was also sentenced to five years probation at that time, so the series will likely focus on court dates as much as football games. The producers claim that the series will focus on how Snoop Dogg balances family life with the service he has to do to handle his gun and drug charges.

Snoop Dogg is far from the first rapper to get his own reality show. Lil' Kim and Reverend Run have both had reality shows in recent years. Calvin Broadus, the real name of Snoop Dogg, has two sons and a daughter with his wife of ten years, Shante, according to the Associated Press. Snoop Dogg has never matched the amazing success of his debut, Doggystyle, which sold over 6 million copies since it was released in 1993. Since then, Snoop Dogg has released Tha Doggfather (2 million), Da Game Is to Be Sold Not to Be Told (2 million), No Limit Top Dogg (1.5 million), The Last Meal (2 million), Paid tha Cost to Be da Bo$$ (1.2 million), R&G: The Masterpiece (1.7 million), and The Blue Carpet Treatment (0.9 million). Snoop Dogg is scheduled to release Ego Trippin later this year or early next.
